This summer our CCD Lynne Ciervo, President Elizabeth Dickson, Secretary Katie Webb, and Treasurer Kristin Fairchild represented the Zeta Pi chapter at the 49th National Convention for Delta Zeta! We also got to take home the Crest Award!

We Won 3rd Place in Beta Choral Cup!

Every year Beta Theta Pi hosts a Choral Cup, a singing competition between sororities. This year Delta Zeta won third place! Great job girls!

Congratulations Katie Barlow!

Katie was awarded the Rotary and Rotaract Deans Service Award for Grady College at a luncheon with Provost Morehouse, the deans of UGA, and the Athens Rotary club! She was also awarded OVERALL DEANS SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT out of all of the recipients!

Congratulations to Laura Arline for being selected as the Senator Chambliss Fellow!

Zeta Pi junior Laura Arline was selected as Senator Chambliss' Foreign Policy and National Security Fellow and will work for Senator Chambliss’ Senior Policy Advisor for National Security Affairs for the Fall semester in D.C. She will be writing background papers for the Senator’s meetings and Congressional hearings, attending selected Congressional hearings & write a précis of relevant points, coordinating with the Departments of State and Defense, and meeting with certain individuals, on behalf of Senator Chambliss, to discuss their concerns and interest in national security affairs.

In addition to a stipend of $1,500 per month (a $6,000 total for the term), the Fellow is expected to pursue academic credit through directed readings or an independent project related to the work of the Fellowship.

Congratulations Laura on this huge honor!

Sigma Chi Derby Days 2010

The Zeta Pi chapter just participated in Sigma Chi's annual Derby Days events, their week-long philanthropy benefiting a different cause each year, this year being Habitat for Humanity. For more photos, check out the Photo Gallery!

New Leaders on Campus

Congratulations to Alex Smith and Rachel Henning who were just elected as SGA senators for the College of Education!

And congratulations to Meghan Webber for directing the winning campaign!

Formal

This year's formal was held at 550 Trackside in Lawrenceville, GA. We are excited to be able to go out of town for our formal events every year, because we are one of the few sororities on campus who have this privilege. The event was held on April 16, 2010, and we had such an amazing time!

Paintball Tournament

The Zeta Pi chapter just had their fourth annual Paintball Tournament! It was the most successful yet with almost twenty teams, including members of our own chapter and other sororities. The total raised for the Painted Turtle Camp through the Paintball Tournament was $8,225. Congrats to the winning team, Drought!

The Zeta Pi chapter just helped six hearing impaired children at Cleveland Road Elementary School. The turtle grant committee granted a teacher six new costumes for her hearing impaired students so that they can put on plays, which is their main method of learning. They are very visual students so acting out situations is their best method of communication with their teacher, parents, etc.

PARENT'S WEEKEND SPRING 2010

The Parent's Weekend for Spring 2010 was a great success! Our Mommy-Daughter event was on Friday, February 5th at the Gymdogs Meet. We had dinner and trivia for the entire family at 5pm on Saturday, February 6th at Buffalo's Southwest Cafe prior to the Daddy-Daughter event at the Men's Basketball game later on in the evening!

Dave and Buster's Date Night

The first datenight of the semester was held on Friday, January 29th. We went to Dave and Buster's and had so much fun!
